A Little About ME
I was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, the only son to parents who never graduated high school. My father was a roughneck and spent his years building a career in oil. Although, he was never formally educated, he became the superintendent of a major drilling company. When sickness struck him, he quickly lost his position to a man with an engineering degree. My father's life taught me a great lesson, the man with the education always wins.
I learned early on that I was meant to write. I started writing poems and lyrics when I was about six years old. As I grew, I developed a taste for helping my friends write too. In high school, I met Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson made it clear to me that I did not have to choose between writing and helping others write... as a teacher I could do both. The rest is history.
I majored in English Rhetoric and Composition and double-minored in Secondary Education and Creative Writing as Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. I spent my last year in college running a Title IV program called 21st Century Students at Ray High School in Corpus Christi. My first taste of real teaching.
When I graduated in 2009, I took a Summer contract teaching English at a language institute (Sprachschule Koeln) in Cologne, Germany. When the company was purchased by Berlitz I was offered a long term contract, but I decided to come home to teach. I moved to Arlington, TX and began a long term substitute job at Bowie High School.
The next year, I was offered employment at Harmony Science Academy Dallas as a full-time lead English teacher! I began my MSEd that same year and the rest, as they say, is history. I still teach English at Harmony Science and am planning to start a family and settle into a new home soon.

HELP US GET COMPUTERS!
We have two sets of computers in our school-a total of about 60 computers divided between two classrooms. Those computers are shared amongst 320 students. One set is reserved for the technology classroom, and the other is shared between computer based math, and every other teacher in the building. That leaves our English program without the use of computers for composing, researching, publishing, and otherwise creating written and visual works in order to advance our understanding of language arts, reading, and composition. In December, I began a fundraising drive in order to obtain a set of 30 Samsung Chromebooks (laptops with a retail value of $429 each) with the help of Google and Donorschoose.org. Google is offering these laptops, at the reduced price of $99, to teachers who create a project for a school in need of their product. Thus far, we have raised approximately $1200. However, we need to raise about $1800 more in order to fulfill our project and get our laptops! Here is your chance to help.
