Rationale
Proposition 1 states that a teacher is committed to students and their learning. This commitment is represented through actions that create a safe and progressive atmosphere that focuses on individual students and their strengths even in the face of adversity. I chose the first artifact as a representation of my qualities as a teacher who cares about his students and continually searches for ways to improve their educational experiences. Motivation is one of the most baffling parts of any teacher's job. This artifact shows that I care for students deeply and work to offer them a valuable experience. The second artifact is a presentation offering an alternative means of educating ESL students in a hybrid version of inclusion. This artifact shows that I continually look for the areas of weakness in my school and make attempts to create a more student centered approach to education by focusing on the needs of every student, whether he is English-speaking or not.

Reflection
My deep seated need to make a positive change in the world has always driven me toward education. Without the compassion for and commitment to my students and future students, I would simply cease to be an effective teacher. Motivation and differentiation are among the most important aspects of effective teaching. Without a continuous search for new motivators and differing implementations of the same lessons, students would cease to be students. So it is with pride that I offer evidence of my ongoing commitment to motivating, supporting, and guiding my students.
