Rationale
Proposition 4 states that teachers think systematically about teaching practices and learn from their successes and failures. The artifacts that I have chosen to represent my mastery of Proposition 4 display a level of self-evaluation that goes beyond just everyday thinking into a much deeper reflective practice. The Case Study of Jack and the SETT model offers a situation that I had at on point thought to be helpless, but in the end, hard work and the search for a better solution as a part of a team paid off. Jack is doing much better. The text complexity analysis shows that I am constantly looking for better ways to extend the appropriate reading material to my students despite what I think may be the best. This analysis process has taught me that I am often wrong about what it best for students and that I should not always trust my gut, but rather use the research supported method.

Artifacts
This is a case study of a student with learning differences. Based on the observation and trials made in class, I was able to offer and implement a new IEP using the SETT model for the student after an ARD with school officials and the student's parents.
The following is a reflection on the analysis of individual texts for reading complexity level. It shows a single text analysis and is followed by the refection.

Reflection
People are fallible. I learned that lesson early on in life and have always remembered. Teachers are no exception. I often find myself making mistakes in planning, presenting, and even assessing. That is why the reflective process is so important to our daily lives as well as in our teaching practices. The day we stop looking at our lessons and practices and analyzing them to find flaws and strengths, is the day that we have stopped being teachers and have started becoming speech giving figureheads. So, I plan to continue my practice of daily reflection and to forge on always looking forward and behind, to ensure that I am staying the best teacher I can be and am not becoming a shadow of my former greatness.
